A lovely peaceful retreat. A great location to use as a base while visiting nearby attractions and towns. Located just outside the village of Flaxton which had a good local pub which also has a restaurant.

We recently had a fortnights holiday here at Great Wood and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. A beautiful setting by the lake, total peace and tranqulity just what we were after. Many thanks must go to Don and Helen for making our stay perfect, a very lovely couple who made us feel right at home. Everything about our holiday was first class and we will recommend Great Wood to all our friends! Many thanks for many happy memories!

A wonderful place to relax. The lodge was first class, excellent location, good fishing and the owners Don and Helen are lovely. We were made so welcome it was just like visiting old friends. We were sad to leave and will be going back.

This is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The lodge is first class and has everything you could possibly need. The location is perfect for getting around, should you wish to that is, and the fishing is very good. What more can we add to the comments already made about the owners Don and Helen? We had a hint of their hospitality before we even arrived, when Don rang us to give us information about what to bring, travel directions and the type of bait needed for fishing. When we arrived it was like visitng old friends, they are indeed a very special couple who want others to enjoy this wonderful place they call home. We cannot wait to return!

We had a wonderful week at Great Wood Lodges, and Don and Helen made us feel very welcome. The fishing was good and very relaxing, the wine and welcome pack was very thoughtful and the eggs were delicious. We hope to go back again!
